French Press Cozy

Charles has wanted one of these for years! And I have been putting it off, until now. This was really easy to make, and now that I made it, I feel silly for putting it off for so long.
I have organized most of my scraps in 2 piles. One that is as unorganized as ever, and one with strips. It was so nice to be able to just look through useable strips and choose the ones I wanted!
It's a benefit from doing the circlequilt. While cutting scraps for that, I am also cutting 5'' squares - they then don't count as scraps anymore - and setting strips aside. It makes my scrap box(es) much easier to manage!

Edited to add:
These are my scrap boxes, I like this kind because they are stackable and they have lids. I got them from IKEA :)
The 2 larger boxes have all my unsorted scraps, and the smaller one has my strips. I have 4 of the smaller boxes. One has WIP (fast becoming a UFO) in it, one has my thread, one has the last bits of favorite prints and then there's the one with the strips.
The 2 larger boxes was once sorted in cool and warm colors - but that didn't last long!
So...this is how I have my scraps. I then have a small stack of 5'' charms in my fabric cupboard - but they are not really scraps, right?!

Homemade strawberry-jam

My parents have more strawberries in their vedgetable-garden than they know what to do with! To help them avoid the our-freezer-is-full-of-strawberries-scenario, I happily took 3-4 kg off their hands :-)

And really, making jam is not that hard. My biggest problem was finding enough jars to keep it in. But that was worked out pretty fast!

The real problem with my jam-making was -and I am embarassed to say, I didn't even think about it until it was too late- that Charles has the flu.
Can you imagine what the sweet sweet smell of strawberries cooking on the stove can do to someone who has an upset stomach and really bad nausea?! Not pretty!

It might just be me and the kids eating this....I don't think Charles will be too eager!

Aaargh!

Why is my luck just so bad?

-Okay, it's not all bad, I have the really important luck, such as healthy children and a loving sweetie. I know this is minor-

I'm trying to study, and I'm sick! I must have caught whatever it was the kids had, because I have a fever, and I'm just soooo tired all the time. Not to mention, my brain is mush!
Oh well, I'll get some work done, and we'll see how it goes ;-)

New bulletin-board

This white and BORING wall in my kitchen has bothered me for some time now... I couldn't quite decide what to do, but finally made up my mind.
I made a bulletin board, and my sweetie put it up today -with a lot of help from Viola ;-)

And here is the finished result. I am so pleased with it!

A post a day in May

Viola wanted us to have dessert today, so I helped her make her dessert of choice: Jello.

This time it was pineapple....

Our sewing-time of the day, was spent dealing with a storage-problem. You know how the lids for plastic-containers tend to be all over the place?
Not anymore! Viola and I made this little bucket-bag for them.

It works really well, and I am so pleased everytime I open the drawer and I can see what's in there -without having to move 20 lids out of the way first :-)

Have you read Allsort's blog? She has idea of posting every day in May, I'm going to take that challenge, and look what a great start I'm off to....I read the post a day late :-D
