The 6"-12" mini quilt swap on Flickr is finally on its way....and this little quilt has such a long way to go! I am still practicing the hourglass-blocks using AmandaJeans tutorial.
These blocks are 2" square when finished. There is a little bulk in the corners where the blocks meet, I tried to press it flat, but there is so much fabric right there. Any ideas on what to do??
I'll show you the whole miniquilt later, once it has reached its new home :-)

I can't help with the bulky corners - I need help with that too!!! (so you are not alone!)
I just read the last post - I am so pleased you like the picture I made you. And your moomin goodies and fabric are fabulous! - wow, I am soooo envious!
Really pretty! I love that watercolor fabric.
I usually try to minimize bulky corners by pressing everything open (instead of to the side) and using lots of steam. Probably not "the right way" to do it, but it does seem to work! :)
Love the summery fabrics. I have been known to trim away some of the excess fabric when making minature quilts.
Tine your are so clever to be able to do this. I cant help with the bulk as I need help with the whole sewing patchwork. My friend is going to show me some of hers.
Pretty fabric - very 'summery' looking. AmandaJean's tutorial mentioned to press open all of the seams - did you do that?
I'm pressing my seams open on my hourglass blocks...it helps a bit, but there is still bulk there.
oh i am excited to see this little beauty!! i love this part of the month, because everyones little quilties are starting to arrive!!!
Thanks for all the lovely comments!
I pressed the seams open, and that is a lot better than to one side! But it is still bulky :-( Mayby next time I'll try trimming some of the fabric.
LOL! I keep thinking it'll be better if the blocks aren't so small....guess that won't really make any difference :-D
Such pretty colors!
This is going to be so pretty - love that floral fabric you are using!
the quilt does get pretty thick in places due to all the seams. If I try this quilt again I will be pressing the seams open (if I remember!) and hope for the best. the same problem with bulk happens when I make pinwheels, too. if you find a solution, let me know!
