Dyeing the sofacover

The all-white sofa-cover was looking really dirty after less than 24 hours. LOL! And I just couldn't find a way to make it work. Nomatter what I did, I thought the whole room was pale and sorry-looking :-(

So this morning I went out to get some purple dye. But purple was sold out everywhere!! I went all over Copenhagen trying to find it, but it turns out the company has not been delivering purple to the stores for a while, so they are all out.

Instead, I bought turquoise...
I thought about hot pink for a while, but thought Charles probably wouldn't be too happy with that. While I waited for the machine to do all the work for me, I finished most of the binding on Violas I SPY...
Now all I had to do was wait for it to dry.... It is looking good to me!
I finally finished the binding! Hooray! You must all be happy not to have to hear about this project again. It seems like it has taken forever!
Here is the sofa, new and improved. I like it so much better than the white! And here is the finished I SPY! Viola was so excited when I showed her, and started spying things right away. Oh was I ever pleased about that :-)
I made mitered corners using this tutorial! It was not as hard as I thought it would be, I'll be using this method in future projects!
I also got some fabrics -a lot of the stores I went to in search of dye had fabric too- but I'll show you that next time!

For a great giveaway, go visit Crafty Giveaways. This weeks giveaway is a started quilt!!

That eye-spy quilt is FANTASTIC! I would love it if I were a kid, too! You did a nice job. And the couch cover dyed looks great, also. A bold, but beautiful color choice.

Turquoise is my kind of colour ;-) I find myself coveting that sofa now... But I suppose I will live with my black one with a couple of turquoise cushions for a while yet...
The I Spy quilt is gorgeous! I really like the effect of the darker squares creating a border, making the centre glow. And your mitred corners are just perfect!

I love the turquoise covers but you sure were brave to do it!

I once dyed some sofa covers purple. I had to use cold-water dye as the covers were too big and heavy to put in the washing machine. The covers turned out fine, but my enamel bath still has dots of purple in it ... 7 years later!

I agree, that turquoise on your couch is fabulous! I'm glad you went with that instead of purple...and the quilt is just beautiful. I can see my kids loving something like that, if only I could quilt!

I love the I SPY quilt!! I want to make one for my son. Did you get the pattern from somewhere special, or just make it up??

Oh I like the colour of the couch cover. I can understand white getting dirty. You really are clever to finish such an amazing quilt. Well done.

I LOVE the aqua!!! My favorite color LOL definitely much better than the white. White couches and children DO NOT mix, trust me, I learned this the hard way LOL

And the quilt is beautiful, one day your grandchildren will play I Spy with it : )
