Hungry?!

How about some noodles? They may be a little dry, though, as they are made from wool-felt....

Or would you prefer something else? Maybe a sandwich?

Viola loves her handmade playfood. I try to make more for her every once in a while.

Drawstring-mini-bag

My daugther is going to a birthday-party tomorrow. All the parents have agreed on a pricelimit for the presents our children bring, so when we went to the toystore, Viola had to leave the LEGO-castles, racetracks and bikes behind, and ended up choosing some glass-marbles.

We decided to sew a nice little bag for them. Viola chose the fabrics.

She was not too happy that I had to cut the fabrics, but the rotary-cutter is not for 3-year-olds....

She was in charge of pins, and very proud of it!

It was a really easy project, and the bag was done fast enough that she wasn't bored. She did have several jobs to keep her busy along the way..... such as (dis)organizing my scraps and buttons :-)

Drawstrings from red bias, in goes the glass-marbles, and it's done!

Viola was so happy, and very proud. She can't wait to give the present she made!

First Birthday!

Happy Birthday Ask!
Can't believe it's been a year already.... Viola (our oldest, she's 3) had chosen Asks cake, she loves anything with sprinkles!

Look at all the goodies he got

And look at these beauties! The weather is terrible outside, don't know if spring is ever going to come this far north, so flowers really make a difference. Anything with color, really. I'm not pleased with grey and slush and rain anymore!

Speaking of rain and bad weather.....I still don't leave the house without these. Think I have raised that companys stock singlehandedly these past few days!

But hopefully that will be all better tomorrow!

....oh.....look who Ask and I saw when we were out today

For those of you who don't know, this is Mary, the CrownPrincess of Denmark. We're very proud of her!
She actually came over and said hi to Ask, asked how old he was and wished him a happy birthday!

Past projects

Thank you for wishing me well! It has worked! I only have a cold now, no more headaches, and no fever. YAY! So thank you very very much :-)

As I forgot my camera went I went out today, you missed a trip and a meeting about my paper on patents! Oh bummer, huh?!
Ask slept right through it, and he usually doesn't like to miss a thing.

So I've decided to show you some past projects.
When I was pregnant with my daugther, I made her this quilt

I hand-appliqued the animals, the rest is done on my machine. We've used this quilt so much!
So when we were expecting our second child, I wanted to make another quilt, about the same size.

The animals are from the book Covered with Love by piece o'cake designs I like their designs a lot, and I wish I had the patience to do handapplique, but no.... So since there's a timelimit when the quilt is for a new baby, I decided to do this on my machine.

The back of the quilt is sewn together from fabrics from my stash.... A great way to use up some of the strange fabric I totally forgot why I bought.
This quilt was sent out to a proffesional longarm-quilter, by the time it was ready to quilt, I was so far along I could hardly reach my machine when sitting in front of it.

Flu :-(

I wanted to stay in bed today, but had to settle for staying inside!
Spent Asks naptime -he slept a full 20 minutes, as he has a bad cold too- taking a few pictures.

I'm trying to get my sewing-area organized, so far I have organized most of my fabrics

There should be a couple of projects worth.... But, since half the fun is shopping for fabrics, I suspect I will add to my stash before I even get started on a new seing project!

These are some of my sewing-books. My sweetheart reads cookbooks, I love to read quilting magazines and patchwork-books. I like to look at the pictures, and be impressed with the work! It's the same with blog-reading....I love to see what all you creative minds come up with.

The next ones I get wil be Lisa Boyers books. If you don't know her blog, you should visit. Her work is amazing!

Oh....I almost forgot!
Look what my sister bought me for my birthday!!!!

It's almost as if she knew I was planning to make her a quilt for Christmas. Now I probably have to. Especially if she reads my blog! LOL!

Play-date!

I got an email from my professor this morning, cancelling our meeting.
YAY! Not only does this give me a chance to show up prepared -he rescheduled for thursday- it also gives me an unexpected day to just have fun with Ask!
We went to a playgroup at our church, and he LOVED it :-) It was so much fun, lots of toys and lots of little friends.

Lots of play, and a couple of hours later, we had to go home -not that Ask wanted to, but he was sooo tired!
He had to take a nap, and look at these little beauties! His grandma made this very special sheet for his bed...

And since I am showing crafty things....
At the moment I'm trying to learn how to do freemotion-quilting on my machine. It's not the easiest thing I have ever tried, but with a lot of patience, and practise, I hope I'll be able to do a decent job.
Here's where I'm at so far:

As I said....practise!
Maybe we'll go to my sewing-room tomorrow?

Removed the comment, because it contained a link that tried to put a trojan horse on my computer :-(

Newbie

I'm definately a beginner at this, thinking "why would anyone want to read about my life?". I guess I think I'd have to do something out of the ordinary to blog... And I really don't! Do anything out of the ordinary, that is. I wanted to play around with this blog-thing today, see how it's done, and now I can't figure out how to delete my blog, so I guess I'm starting blogging now.
Not the best time e
ver, I have to say, but oh well, there's always something!
My youngest is still at home with me, and my maternity-leave ended February 1st, so now I'm a full-time student (studying Library and Information Science), and a full-time mom. And blogger. There's certainly enough going on, I'll just have to find the time to post it.

I'll take you along when I go to school -can't always call it by its proper name: The Royal Danish school of Library and Information Science, that is too long!
Anyway, that should be fun! Maybe it'll snow!? But what I know for sure is, little Ask (my youngest) will be going with me, so that should be fun!
