I'm still here!!

Another picture from our bikerides through the city....

I am still here! Ask and I are sick, I have a billion pages to read for my class......
On the bright side, Ask is better, and will be back to his normal lovely self very soon, and hopefully I should be so too :-) Once he is okay it shouldn't take me long, being able to sleep at night is so healing -compared to being kept awake by a sick 1 year old!

Election Day in the US is pretty interesting for us in the rest of the world too....so please vote if you are able to do so! Please!
I know I am keeping my fingers crossed and will be checking the internet at the crack of dawn to see who will be the next president...

Until then.....I have been given an award! YAY! Thank you Thrifty Mrs!!!
I am very happy to get this award!

Halloween

Tivoli here in Copenhagen celebrate Halloween this week. They are open for Halloween one week only, then we have to wait until Christmas to go back :-) ...and summer of course!
They have decorated the gardens so beautifully, they have used more than 21.000 pumpkins in all :-)

Asks favourite was this mill, he loved watching the wings go round and round...
I took some pictures for you....the chinese tower....
....the pirate ship....
....the brewery.....
....and some more pumkins!
The kids liked this pumpkin-man, but when it came time to take a picture, they got bored. LOL!
It was a great day!

Charles has been away at a conference in London all week (he'll be back tonight!), the kids and I have been sick.....and I am soooo behind on my webometrics-paper. I had to call my parents and ask them to come help me out.
They did, thank goodness :-)

Ahoy!

These are the pirate prints Tia sent me, I think they are perfect for Ask! I'm going to fuzzy-cut the pirates and the treasure-chests, and use the coin-print as a border.....and make something inspired by this.

These prints are going to be used for the backing. They came from Tia as well (how cool is she?!). I am going to piece the backing :-)
I am working on a paper for my webometrics-class, it is such a great class, I am really enjoying it.
It is also a lot of work, so I spend most of my time either reading or in front of my computer. I have had to work on the floor, because my sewing machines, fabrics, cutting mats and such is taking up all the room on my desk..... I think it is just not my desk anymore, it is my sewing- and cutting table :-)
And really, there is so much more room to make little piles of paper, when working on the floor! Only downside is, I have to move everything out of the way before going out to pick up the children...

But really, that is a small price to pay for not having to clear my sewing-stuff out of the way!

Fantastic class!!

This semester I'm taking a class on webometrics, and it is so much fun! It's a lot of work....but then, nobody said it would be easy. I have decided, that I work while the kids are away, so monday-friday when they are in daycare. It gives me just about 5 hours a day. Quite a bit less than I would normally work, and quite a bit more than I had last semester when Ask was at home with me ;-)
So all in all, I should be okay.

The class is taught by Professor Peter Ingwersen, who is well-known internationally in his field. And he is a wonderful teacher, I feel very lucky! So my first class this semester is off to a good start.

I do miss the kids, though. But I am comforted knowing they are having fun with their friends. And this way, I can spend time with them in the afternoon, and just focus on them....and dinner....laundry....the general mess that is my house!

Unfortunately I don't have much time for sewing. Right now, I'm trying to remember how to study, summer was a bit long, and somewhere along the way I seem to have lost my ability to remember what I read. Not so good! LOL! But it'll come back to me....I hope! No, seriously....it's the same every time I've had a long break. I just need to reboot my system...

DONE!

Thank you for all the support and all the kind words!
I just got home, and I got a 12! Or an A for those of you who use that scale....
So I'm happy, and very relieved......and.....no more studying until September! My parents came to take care of Ask, who came down with a fever yesterday afternoon. And they bought me a walking foot for my Bernina! That is great, I have so many plans for sewing-projects this summer, and they all need quilting! And I can start right away, and use it to quilt their Christmas-present -how great is that!?

I just wanted to let you all know, that my dreaded exam is over, and I did so much better than I had hoped for!

Happy thoughts are welcome :-)

This is what I have done to try and keep from stressing out. I am making this quilt as a Christmas-present for my parents (here's hoping they don't read my blog!).
I haven't had much time to sew, as the dreaded exam is TOMORROW! So keep your fingers crossed for me, and send some happy thoughts my way! I always get so nervous, and I keep telling myself, it's only an exam!!! In the greater scheme of things, it is not that important, but still.....I get nervous :-(

And my sweetie is not here! Charles is in Umeå, Sweden until thursday...

Oh well... I'll just have to think about all the sewing I'll have time to do, once it's over! That should put a smile on my face.

And another thing to smile about, is a give-away on Jackies blog Canton Village Quilt Works. Jackie is an extremely talented proffesional longarm-quilter, and the prize of her give-away is amazing! She will quilt a quilt for the winner! How great is that?! So go to her blog and leave a comment on the giveaway-post!

Aaargh!

Why is my luck just so bad?

-Okay, it's not all bad, I have the really important luck, such as healthy children and a loving sweetie. I know this is minor-

I'm trying to study, and I'm sick! I must have caught whatever it was the kids had, because I have a fever, and I'm just soooo tired all the time. Not to mention, my brain is mush!
Oh well, I'll get some work done, and we'll see how it goes ;-)

I've been tagged!

I've been tagged by Trifty Mrs :-)

The rules: I have to answer 6 questions about myself. At the end of the post, I then tags 6 people and posts their names, then go to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know they have been tagged and asking them to read my blog for the rules. Then, I must let the person who tagged me know when I've posted my answers.

1: What was I doing 10 years ago?
I was 25, and I was working in a store in Århus, Denmark.

2: 5 things from my to-do list today:
1: Write
2: Meeting with professor
3: Sort laundry
4: Read the rest of the litterature for my paper
5: Have fun with children

3: Snacks I like:
Coca-cola, ice-cream, cookies, cake.....pretty much anything unhealthy! LOL!

4: If I were a millionaire....
I would drop out of school and be a stay-at-home mom

5: Places I've lived:
1: Frausing, Denmark
2: Århus, Denmark
3: San Francisco, CA
4: Copenhagen, Denmark

I won't tag anyone, not that I don't think memes are fun (I love reading all your answers!) but it's late, I've been working all day....

My little one has a cold so bad he can barely breathe, and I just want to go to sleep! LOL!

Anyway, there should be a much more interesting post tomorrow. I'll be at home with Ask, there's no way he's going to daycare with that cold!

Slim pickings

These, and my computer, are pretty much all I see these days.... The books are usually open though, and spread out all over my desk. LOL. Add to that the mountain of photocopied journal-articles, my pens, my notebook, and the everpresent Coca-Cola. That's what I surround myself with right now.

So as you can imagine, I don't experince a lot of blog-worthy stuff......but, hey! That's life too ;-)

Huge presents! Happy kids :-)

This is what I did today, I worked on my paper. I'm happy to report, that Ask is doing so well at daycare :-) He already has a lot of little friends. One of the other boys gave him a hug goodbye yesterday! I was so happy!
I missed my post last night, because I fell asleep.......again!

Today my sister is here, and she brought presents for the kids. Ask got a Duplo giant zoo, he was a little bit afraid of the box -it was bigger than him. LOL!

Viola liked all the animals too...

She got the Belville royal winter stables, lots of pink and purple, glitter and princesses...
-and a few borrowed animals from the zoo!

They both had so much fun playing with their new LEGOs, I'm sure it'll be the favourite toys for a very long time...

I'm beginning to be able to relax a little when Ask is at daycare, it makes it a lot easier to get some work done on my paper. I can't wait until I'm done with it....

I fell asleep!

Ask did so well yesterday, he played with his new friends, and didn't complain at all. I sat at the nearby coffee-shop, and studied. I am really quite busy, I have a 20 page paper due May 26th...

But I still found time to do some shopping.... This is a new house-dress. Viola and Charles love it, and want me to wear it out of the house too. We'll see about that!

And I got Ask some sandals for summer.

And....who can resist these little Tupperware-wannabies?! They are perfect for bringing raisins, nuts, grapes and all those little foods the kids like to eat :-)

Anyway, this was supposed to be yesterdays post, but after I fell asleep when I was tugging Viola into bed, and when I finally woke up, I just went right back to sleep in my own bed...
so there may just be 2 posts today!

Work-work-work!

These past couple of days, I have been working on my project on patents.
And today I took a course: "Introduction to patents and patentsinformation". As I am certain most of you would be bored to tears, hearing too much about this, I will not go into detail :-)

Anyway, when I finally returned home, after a full day of learning, I had mail! YAY! I have no idea when I will get to try these gadgets out, but I will leave them in view....

Then I can try to motivate myself with little crafty treats....."when I have read two more chapters, I can make a giant yo-yo".....

First Birthday!

Happy Birthday Ask!
Can't believe it's been a year already.... Viola (our oldest, she's 3) had chosen Asks cake, she loves anything with sprinkles!

Look at all the goodies he got

And look at these beauties! The weather is terrible outside, don't know if spring is ever going to come this far north, so flowers really make a difference. Anything with color, really. I'm not pleased with grey and slush and rain anymore!

Speaking of rain and bad weather.....I still don't leave the house without these. Think I have raised that companys stock singlehandedly these past few days!

But hopefully that will be all better tomorrow!

....oh.....look who Ask and I saw when we were out today

For those of you who don't know, this is Mary, the CrownPrincess of Denmark. We're very proud of her!
She actually came over and said hi to Ask, asked how old he was and wished him a happy birthday!

Newbie

I'm definately a beginner at this, thinking "why would anyone want to read about my life?". I guess I think I'd have to do something out of the ordinary to blog... And I really don't! Do anything out of the ordinary, that is. I wanted to play around with this blog-thing today, see how it's done, and now I can't figure out how to delete my blog, so I guess I'm starting blogging now.
Not the best time e
ver, I have to say, but oh well, there's always something!
My youngest is still at home with me, and my maternity-leave ended February 1st, so now I'm a full-time student (studying Library and Information Science), and a full-time mom. And blogger. There's certainly enough going on, I'll just have to find the time to post it.

I'll take you along when I go to school -can't always call it by its proper name: The Royal Danish school of Library and Information Science, that is too long!
Anyway, that should be fun! Maybe it'll snow!? But what I know for sure is, little Ask (my youngest) will be going with me, so that should be fun!
