I have pressed all 143 squares....
I really dislike ironing, so I always look at these different little gadgets that promise to work just as well. I have never tried any of them, though! If you have, let me know which one, and if it worked. Because if there is an easier way to do this, please let me know!
And now that I'm done whining, I can say, that I really am happy with the way this is coming together. It may have to go on hold for a while, though. I have an exam coming up next monday (yes, it's still that #&! paper on patents), so I have some reading to do!
Hmmm...I don't know of another way to get around to making pressing any easier. I hate it, I know that much! That's a lot of squares you pressed-it all looks great. I would love to learn to quilt...one day, maybe. I wouldn't mind trying out that mini iron by Clover. Let me know if you do!

ReplyDeleteMy sister gave me the clover mini iron for my birthday. It is ever so small, and is good for tiny areas you need to press - like Belle's adorable clothes that Jodie made. I rarely use it because it is too easy to lose track of where you set it among all the fabric - and it's hot, of course, so as you pick up pieces of fabric you need to be careful not to touch it. All in all I like my big iron better. I don't hate ironing at all, but I remember when my children were small saying "Watch out for the hot iron" A LOT when I was trying to sew. And Tine, you are amazing with all your links. You make it seem easy, but it sure isn't for me!
ReplyDeleteI have no experience with either of the little irons, but i think your plain spoken quilt is looking quite lovely! I'm ready to start another one of those. It's been a year an a half since I made one and they are so stunning.

ReplyDeleteSo nice quilt it will be! I found that I have that book at home and guess, if I also want to make one Plain Spoken quilt! I like my usual iron, but can still remember when I could iron only, when the children were sleeping... I sent today an email to you...
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be beautiful! I have no good hints on pressing, though. Just embrace it lol I have come to enjoy pressing, I guess when you are making clothes, the pressing really makes them look so much nicer.

ReplyDeleteLovely! no doubt it's going to be wonderful! As for the little iron, I was given the Clover mini-iron. It works very well, and found it most helpful to press seams nice and flat. With Applique it's good too,and very handy to take along when at a Bee or workshop.

ReplyDeleteI tried out the Clover mini-iron and really didn't like it. I didn't think it got hot enough to do a really good job- maybe I just got a bad one.
