Scrap Challenge

I've sewn a few more hexagons, and also made these two flowers. I will not be putting the blue gingham in between -allthough I like it- but brown... The brown fabric has to be ironed before I can use it, so there's no knowing when that is going to happen.

All the fabric I'm using is from my stash -or more correctly, it is scraps left over from the generous donations made for me to finish my I SPY.....
Some of the pieces left over are too small for hexagons, so I have started making some scrappy log cabinish blocks. I'm hoping to finish this before the end of August, it will be my quilt for the summer stash challenge!
The squares are 20cm square.
HA! There's no way I'm going to be able to finish that!

    Oooh very pretty! I love the hexagons - I have never tried them - are they hard? Can't wait to see the brown and the log cabins are lovely!

    I love the hexagons, too! I have seen instructions to make them using English paper piecing, and all with hand stitching. AAK! Is that how you're doing it? I've seen that pattern called "Grandmother's Flower Garden". The summer edition of the "Keepsake Quilter" newsletter has a picture on page 48 of a quilt of a woman in her sewing room, and she is making a hexagon quilt, and it is a real quilt with 1/4 inch finished hexagons. !!!

    Nice hexagons! I have been stiching them by hand - one of my UFOs! It is a nice job to stich by hand, but so slowly!

    I do sew by hand, using english paper piecing...and it does take forever! That'swhy I am planning a pillowcase -not a quilt :-D

I'm glad I'm not the only one to come across such "stumbling blocks" - sometimes it's just a thing like that: fabric needing to be washed or ironed that delays my progress on a quilt, and once I get around to it, it doesn't really take much time at all... You are doing a great job on those hexagons - I know I wouldn't have the patience for that, but I'm sure yours will be great. And those log cabin blocks will make a wonderful quilt!

    I love them. I love scrappy quilts. You most certainly can join my swap :) Just be sure to include return postage, and you may want to send in early, so I get them in time. I would love to have swappers abroad.
